LENT TERM
RUGBY: This term the House matches were played for the House Rugger Cup. The team was selected from all forms other than the V and V1. Altogether we played three sets of matches.
The team was captained by Moss who led the team in both v~ and defeat extremely well. Although we were handicapped from the start the team did very well and they managed to beat Craven but York were just too strong for us.
Team: Moss (scrum half) McGuffle (full back) Turner i (left wing) Pallister ii (right wing) Cousins (left centre) Wat~ (right centre), Knapper (stand off), Buckley (lock), Jones ii Bridge (second row), Fawcett, Snape (props), jerorne (hooker), Baker ii, Bushell ii (wing forwards).

v. York. February 8th, 1961: We kicked off and attacked with such force that we scored almost immediately giving us a 3 point lead. For the next 15 minutes the match was very even, but finally York broke through to score their first try which was converted. From this time York seemed to be inspired and continued to score and by half-time were leading 13-3. In the second half York started olf the scoring but we managed to keep the scoring down and in the final minutes of the match we broke through to score making the final score York 19, Lancaster 6.

v. Craven. 8th March, 1961: We again kicked off and after about 15 minutes hard fighting Moss broke through to score our first try. This was converted by Fawcett giving us a 5 point lead. Craven then returned the attack and scored. For the rest of the first half the match seemed to be fairly even. After about 10 minutes of the second half we again started the scoring. Buckley and Bushell ii each scoring a try. Craven still fought back but our scrum was too heavy and fast for them to hold. The last try of the match was scored by Cousins and converted by Fawcet making the final score Lancaster 16, Craven 14.

MARATHON: The interhouse marathon was held on Wednesday, 22nd March, 1961. It turned out to be a hot and most unreasonable day for long distance running. Every member of the House took part and ran extremely well. The most notable runners were Sayers (4), Coupe (5), Moss (11), jones i (6), Sayers (7), Hurst (10), who did very well to keep up such a fast pace on a hot day.

GYM GAMES: On Saturday, 4th February was held the first set of Interhouse gym games. The teams were selected from the IV Form downwards.
Volleyball: Moss, Bushell ii, Cousins, Gibbson, Branson.
Six-a-side football : Fawcett, jones ii, Buckley, McGuffic, French, Watmough.
We beat both Craven and York.

SUMMER TERM.
This term so far nothing as yet has been played. We still have the interhouse Sports Cup, the Cricket Cup and the Swimming Cup to compete for.
The sports are on the 5th July and the Swimming on the 7th July. The cricket matches which take longer will be played off during the last week of Term.
As this report is going to be printed before I have the results I can only say that we are going to do our very best to win all three cups.
I have been House Captain now for two years and I would like to finish my report by thanking everyone in the House for making my last two years at Eshton memorable and enjoyable. We have had many exciting encounters with York and Craven during those two years, and I would like to thank the House Captains of these two Houses for making all the Inter-House Matches enjoyable in victory or defeat.
It is also hard to say how much the house will miss Embrey, the only other School Prefect in the House, who has been a great asset to the House throughout the whole year. Finally, I would like to say that I hope the house will support the next House Captain as well as they have supported me ; and I wish Lancaster in the future, the best of luck.

J.BUSHELL,
House Captain.
