Lancaster House Report 1964

Lancaster has had a variable year. The atmosphere at the beginning of the School year was one of uncertainty. During the Christmas Term, we played the inter-house Rugby matches. Both teams although not altogether successful maintained interest in their games. Towards the end of the Easter term we had the inter-house cross-country running match. It was gratifying that the outlook towards inter-House activities was becoming one of interest and determination. During the Summer term three main House events took place, the Athletic sports, the Cricket and the Swimming Sports. The members of the House showed keen interest in all three events.

The work of the House varied. At the beginning of the year Mr. Gouldsworthy introduced a dormitory competition which lasted through the Christmas and Easter terms. Whilst this was running we were only able to win the weekly House Cup four times out of about 20. As soon as the dormitory competition stopped during the Summer term we only lost the weekly cup twice. This showed that although the general work was good, the dorms. were letting us down.
During the whole of the year I have had support from Denny and Turner i, and from the House Prefects, McGuffle and Knapper, who were a great help in establishing the enthusiastic atmosphere in the House. Bushell i was made a House Prefect half way through the year.

During the year I have noticed that on the whole the House has been a reasonably happy one. There were however, a few members who appeared to be happier than the rest. This I put down to the fact that they made the most of life and did not grumble unnecessarily.

I have had a happy year as House Captain, and I would like to take this opportunity of thanking those who have helped to make it so. I would also like to wish Lancaster all success for the future.
