Lancaster House Report 1965

This year Lancaster has been successful in winning three cups: The Cross Country Running Cup, the Cricket Cup and the Athletic Sports Cup. Lancaster's supremacy could not have been achieved without the efforts of every boy, from the most senior at Eshton to the most junior at Flasby.

In the Autumn Term 1964 the main competition was rugger. We had rather a lightweight and inexperienced team, so the other houses started with an advantage. Unfortunately one of our best players, Naylor, broke his collar bone and was unable to play for the rest of the series. Cocks, Bushell ii, Parr, Sellers, Heaton, Peate and Coltart played consistently well and held the team together.

A Seven-a-side Rugger competition and the Marathon were held in the Spring Term, 1965. We did well in the seven-a-side to win the senior section. Hargreaves scored a try in each round.

In the Summer Term Lancaster did well to win the inter-house cricket competition as we were not reckoned to be the favourites. Orme, Naylor, Sellers and Bushell ii were the stars of the team, Orme taking five wickets in both matches. The Athletics Cup was won against fierce opposition by one vital point. Bushell i and Sellers excelled themselves and Pearson i is especially to be congratulated for entering for seven events.

Lancaster has been a happy and spirited house during the year, and I would like to thank everybody for their efforts. 1 hope the boys who remain will continue to pull their weight under a new House Captain next year. To the captains and members of Craven and York I would like to express my thanks for the pleasure of keen competition.

N. BUSHELL (Captain).
