Lancaster House Report 1966

The Christmas term began in an easy manner with no great rush of activities. Near the middle of the term we lost both rugby House matches against the other houses. In these matches Swales played a noble game and Whitely was on the field suitably attired. Looking at things in general the whole team played unexpectedly well.

During Mr. Taylor's debates Swales and the Coltart brothers held their own very well, especially in the Black v. White debate.

Because of excess snow, the school enjoyed one games afternoon romping in the drifts. Indeed, several hardy explorers succeeded in conquering Sharp Haw.

The Easter term is generally the worst for virulent diseases pervading the school. However, this Easter term was not too bad except for a one week period of influenza.

Although the House did not do exceptionally well in the marathon, and indeed it was a marathon, I would like to thank those who exerted themselves and the remainder for moral support.

I would like to congratulate Sellers, Coltart and Parr on being awarded well deserved rugby colours for their great contribution to an excellent lst XV.

The Summer term began with fine weather which pleased everyone even if it did eventually soon change. Work pace inevitably began to hot up when exams seemed to be coming very close. Thus other activities were curtailed to a certain extent. However, Sellers was appointed captain of cricket and was supported by Orme ii.

I would like to congratulate Veitch, Sutcliffe and McMillan on receiving from the Duke of Edinburgh their Gold Awards. I hope this example will encourage others to continue with the scheme.

1 would like to thank the whole House for a happy year and also the House prefects, Veitch, Gill and Sellers for their support. 1 would especially like to thank Messrs. Whitely and Swales for their staunch and reliable support.

JOHN R. PEARSON, House Captain.
