York House has had a very satisfactory year and put up a good
show in everything attempted. We have won one cup of the three
so far competed for, the Marathon Cup. Since September all
members without exception have done everything possible for
the house in both work and play. The House spirit has never
declined and has been a great advantage in all that we have
done as a House. Now to get on to our victories and defeats.

|
CHRISTMAS TERM. |
Rugby. We beat Lancaster 17-6 and were indeed lucky to.
draw 3-3 with Craven. Our Junior and Middle School team put up
an excellent show but were defeated by both rivals.
|
Boxing. All our boys put up a courageous fight even
when losing badly. York came last by two points.
|
|
EASTER TERM. |
|
Rugby. We played Craven first and only fine tackling by
Knaggs kept them out. Eventually we scored a try in the dying
seconds to win the game 3-0. The game against Lancaster was
not so good and we were defeated 11-3. |
The junior and Middle teams lost both their matches against
their rivals.
|
Mixed Soccer. Our first match was against Lancaster
House and after a close game ended victoriously by one goal to
nil. We were defeated by Craven House by 2-0. Dawood v, our
goalkeeper saved many goals but was unable to stop the
onslaught of Craven.
|
Form Orders. York has done very well throughout the
year in the form orders.
|
Marathon. In the Seniors Hayat came first, Knaggs
second and Beckwith fifth and were supported by the rest of
the team. In the Middle School Hodkinson came first, Baker I
and Fairburn supported him. In the juniors York did not do
very well. On the average we won the House Cup.
|
|
SUMMER TERM. |
Sports. York did very well indeed in coming second five
points behind Craven. Atkinson won the Junior Victor Ludorum.
|
As
I said before this has been a very satisfactory year for York
and I hope we can keep up this standard in years to come.
|
Before I end this House Report I would like to thank both
Craven and Lancaster for their sportsmanship in every
competition.
