York has had a satisfactory year and the house spirit has been
maintained throughout that time. Boys selected to represent
the house in any team, have always given of their best, and
more ; if such a thing is possible. Those who have not been
selected have given superb support and encouragement to the
others.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Scramble. The competition was
divided into 3 divisions, Senior School, Middle School, and
Junior School. We managed to win the Senior event, thanks to
C. Hainsworth, and the Junior event, thanks to Atkinson ii,
both of whom managed to produce pieces of pancake which seemed
bigger than the original !
|
Marathon. York came second in the whole event, which
was divided into three groups. In the Seniors, Knaggs came
first, supported by Beckwith, Nanji, and the rest of the team.
In the Middle School, no-one in our house came in the first
three. In the Juniors, Hall i came second for York.
|
Form Orders. York came second to Lancaster in the form
orders. We had a few boys who were in the first three of their
forms, but Dawood iii was the only person to keep his position
of lst throughout the year.
|
Gym Games. In the Senior gym games, York came second.
Our juniors came first in the gym team competition, and second
in the handball match. SUMMER TERM.
|
York has three more cups to compete for, before the end of
term. The Cricket House matches, House Swimming and Sports Day
have yet to come.

I
wish to add a word of thanks to both Craven and Lancaster for
their excellent sportsmanship, and for being such keen
opponents in every competition.
|
As
this is my last term at Eshton, I should like to thank all the
members of York for their fine spirit for the house, and I
wish them the best of luck in the future.
