In this first term of the School year the House got off to a
good start in the inter-House activities. In the table
tennis tournament, Edwards, Neal, Wynn and Henderson
represented York. In this competition we managed to gain
second place. On the following Sunday we were again only
able to gain second place in the interhouse quiz. Robinson
and Godfrey reached the finals in the Senior and Baty and
Maynard in the juniors. Baty incidentally managed to score
full points. Robinson won for the seniors and Maynard for
the juniors. This term, as usual, the Rugby cup was competed
for, and we were at a disadvantage from the start in both
experience and weight. In the seniors the whole team played
as though inspired, especially against Craven, but even this
was not enough to beat a much stronger opposition. The
junior team had a very successful season, under the able
captaincy of Mark Watson. I think it is worthy of note that
during the whole season they did not concede a single point.
