York House Report 1965

The Autumn Term is chiefly to be remembered for the interhouse rugger competition won by the Seniors. This was an especially noteworthy achievement considering the strength of Craven. Success was mainly due to the tenacity of the backs.

In the Easter Term the Marathon was won for us by Hepburn, who showed what determination can lead to. Wickham also ran well for the House in the Senior competition and King was the best of our junior runners. All in all both teams ran very well.

Towards the end of term the Seven-a-side Rugby Tournament took place. Although our Senior team lost, the Juniors gave us a convincing victory. In the interhouse Gymnastic competition Frost, Berry and Gray did well for us. In the Summer Term the Cricket Cup eluded us when we lost to Lancaster in the final match.

In the Athletics Competition we were not very successful, even though Fox and Frost did well for us. Competition for the House Cup came to an end after the Autumn Term. At that time we were in the lead and felt that we could have won the cup.

Burkinshaw, Wynn and Fox gave loyal support in the running of the House, and Burkinshaw deserves our congratulations on being made School Captain in the Summer Term.

I should like to thank the York House members who played for or supported the various teams in competitions.

R. HENDERSON (Captain).
